Clavaillon is an 8 hectare (4 grassland, 4 woods) working farm working with biodynamic principles. At the moment, we grow vegetables and fruit in an acre of kitchen garden, and keep Sussex Light hens for eggs. We were until recently breeding Gloucestershire Old Spot Pigs. Our produce is used by several top restaurants and other food professionals in Bordeaux and Paris. We also sell our produce to individual customers in our local area as well as the Bordeaux metropolitan area. We're located 45 minutes drive from Bordeaux in SW France, towards the east end of Grave appellation in the world famous Bordeaux wine area. A medial bastide town, Bazas, is 5 minutes car drive from us. It is a very vibrant and lively town with its restaurants, boutique shops, and famous Saturday market. The cathedral is part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France. It is also know for local breed, Bazadaise beef cattle, which was featured in Rick Stein’s BBC programme several years ago. There are international airports in Bordeaux, Bergerac and Toulouse. You can reach Bordeaux on TGV from Paris within 2 hours. The Atlantic coast is 1 hour away by car, the Spanish border and the Basque country is just over 2 hours away, and Dordogne 1 hour away. One side of the farm house is for our living area, with 3 bedrooms, a shower room, a toilet, and an open plan kitchen dining living, over 2 storeys. There is also a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a walk in closet which are to be completed. In the middle, there is a large barn, a pantry with concreted floor, and a boot room with an oil boiler and a shower room to be completed. The other side comprises of an old cow shed which has been renovated and has a holiday let for 12 self catering. It has an open plan kitchen/dining/living room, 4 bedrooms, 3 bath/shower rooms, and a toilet, over two levels. Since we opened the let in November 2017, we've always had 5 star reviews from our Airbnb guests. Just outside the farmhouse, we have a 1 acre kitchen garden where we grow a wide range of vegetables and fruits outside, following biodynamic principles. We also have a young orchard with around 30 fruit trees (apple, pear, fig, plum, peach, Sansho, Kaki) we've planted since we moved here in 2015. Our free range hens live here, too. There is a small piggery in need of renovation that would make an ideal pool house or another holiday let. Also, there is a wooden framed barn that we currently use for storage but would be ideal for a stable or other use. We have 4 hectares of grassland for hay making and keeping animals. Our 4 hectares of woods are with deciduous trees, mainly with oak, acacia and hornbeam. We used to keep our pigs in our woods in the past, too. For further details, please contact us. Thank you.
