We are cash buyers (a young family with a 12 y.o boy and 11 y.o girl) and are looking for a home that is full of warmth and character, with the following characteristics in which to raise our children: - detached house or farm - beautiful views - fire place(s) and/or wood stove(s) - large country kitchen - character property (beams, stone or wood floor) - stream or water nearby (if possible) - 1-10 acres - outbuildings if possible - on the outskirts of a village (with 1/2 mile ideal, but up to 2m okay) - within or on the outskirts of a warm, welcoming community of people in the village/town with activities for children as they grow - good schools for our children - slightly wilder countryside, near enough (or within) the peaks - modernisation required okay - potential for revenue, if possible (cottage on property) I grew up learning to look after an old home and the property around it: cut firewood, raised a few animals, played in the woods and ponds/rivers nearby, and it gave me a grounding that I always carry with me. I want my children to grow up with similar solid values that one learns through stewardship (looking after a place), and from living in an open and friendly community I know that it is a big ask We have a lovely home (semi) in Twemlow with back garden and views (in the midst of converting the loft for a wonderful top floor bedroom with views over fields), and extending the back garden through purchase. £4-450k-ish Please get in touch. |
